State Street secures Saudi fund administration licence
State Street has received regulatory approval to provide fund administration services in Saudi Arabia, expanding its local asset servicing capabilities as the Kingdom’s asset management industry continues to grow under Vision 2030 and attract greater institutional capital.
State Street has been granted a licence by Saudi Arabia’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) to provide fund administration services in the Kingdom, marking a significant expansion of the firm’s Middle East asset servicing business.
The approval enables State Street to offer locally regulated fund administration services to domestic and international asset managers operating in Saudi Arabia. The move comes as the Kingdom continues to develop its capital markets under its Vision 2030 economic diversification programme, with regulators encouraging greater institutional participation and the expansion of investment products.
For global asset managers, the development represents another step in Saudi Arabia’s evolution into a more mature investment market. As local funds increase in size and sophistication, demand has grown for international-quality fund administration, custody and investment operations capable of supporting both domestic and cross-border investment strategies.
The licence also reflects a broader trend among global custodians and fund service providers to establish on-the-ground capabilities in fast-growing markets rather than relying solely on regional hubs. Local servicing allows firms to meet regulatory requirements more effectively while providing asset managers with integrated operational support covering fund accounting, administration, custody and reporting.
Saudi Arabia’s funds industry has expanded rapidly in recent years as pension assets, sovereign wealth capital and private investors allocate more capital across public and private markets. International managers have increasingly sought local partnerships and regulatory approvals to participate in that growth.
For the wider fund operations industry, State Street’s approval underlines the strategic importance of administration infrastructure as investment markets deepen. As more international capital flows into Saudi Arabia, demand for scalable operating models, high-quality data management and robust post-trade services is expected to accelerate, creating further opportunities for global investment servicing providers.
