Neuberger brings equity and fixed income together in new multi-asset UCITS

Neuberger has launched a multi-asset UCITS fund combining established US equity and global fixed-income strategies in a single portfolio, reflecting continued demand for diversified investment solutions.

Neuberger has launched the Neuberger Balanced Fund, a multi-asset UCITS strategy combining two of the firm’s established actively managed investment approaches within a single portfolio.

The fund allocates approximately 60% of assets to the Neuberger Large Cap Growth Strategy, with the remaining 40% invested in the Neuberger Strategic Multi-Sector Fixed Income Strategy.

The approach brings together exposure to public equities and fixed income within one portfolio rather than requiring investors to manage separate mandates.

Jeff Blazek, co-chief investment officer of Multi-Asset Strategies at Neuberger, said: “Markets rarely move in a straight line, and this fund is built around that reality.”

He added that the strategy draws on the firm’s equity and fixed-income platforms to create a portfolio designed to adapt to changing market conditions.

Carolina Collia, relationship manager at Neuberger, said demand for diversified, risk-aware multi-asset solutions is continuing to grow as clients seek exposure to both stock selection and active fixed-income positioning without managing separate mandates.

The launch illustrates the continuing development of multi-asset funds as a way of combining different investment capabilities within a single regulated fund structure.

It also reflects the increasing importance of flexibility in portfolio construction. Rather than relying on a single asset class or investment style, the fund combines equity selection with a fixed-income strategy covering multiple sectors.

For investors, the structure provides a single UCITS vehicle through which the two strategies can be accessed. For asset managers, it provides a way of bringing established capabilities together into a product designed for investors seeking diversification and active asset allocation.

The fund is supported by investment teams based in the US and Europe, while Neuberger’s global research and trading infrastructure supports the underlying strategies.

The development also fits into a broader evolution in asset management, in which traditional boundaries between individual asset classes are becoming less significant at the portfolio level.

Equities and fixed income continue to have distinct characteristics, risks and return drivers. But multi-asset strategies increasingly seek to combine those exposures within a single investment framework, allowing portfolio managers to adjust the balance between them as market conditions change.

The UCITS structure is significant from a distribution perspective. The new fund is a sub-fund of Neuberger Berman Investment Funds PLC and is authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland under the UCITS framework.

That places a multi-asset investment approach within one of Europe’s established cross-border fund structures, linking portfolio construction with the distribution infrastructure used by international asset managers.
