AllianzGI closes €1bn+ European impact private credit strategy
Allianz Global Investors has raised more than €1 billion for its Impact Private Credit strategy, highlighting continued institutional demand for private debt financing of European companies.
AllianzGI said its Impact Private Credit strategy has secured more than €1 billion of commitments from major European institutional investors, exceeding its original €800 million target in less than two years.
Launched in 2024, the strategy provides senior direct lending to European small and medium-sized businesses whose core activities address environmental and social challenges. The latest commitments include a Dutch pension fund and a Belgian insurer.
The strategy has already deployed capital into several European businesses. Investments include financing for French biological crop-protection company Bioline AgroSciences and UK infrastructure-services business Avove Group, which provides services supporting water and wastewater networks.
AllianzGI said the strategy is classified as an Article 9 product under the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and uses its proprietary impact framework to assess investments.
The fundraise illustrates the continued development of private credit as an institutional asset class, while also demonstrating how asset managers are combining private-market lending with increasingly specialised investment mandates.
For European asset managers, the expansion of private credit provides another channel through which institutional capital can be directed towards smaller companies and the wider real economy. It also reflects the growing range of private-market strategies being packaged for institutional investors alongside more traditional public-market allocations.
