Hamilton Lane launches ELTIF 2.0 fund to broaden retail access to private markets
The private markets investment manager has unveiled its first European Long-Term Investment Fund under the revised ELTIF 2.0 regime, expanding access to institutional-quality private markets strategies for retail investors across the EEA.
Hamilton Lane has launched a new European Long-Term Investment Fund (ELTIF) under the revised ELTIF 2.0 framework, marking the firm’s latest move to expand access to private markets for retail investors across Europe. The announcement reflects growing momentum behind the updated regulatory regime, which has simplified the structure and distribution of long-term investment funds.
The new Hamilton Lane Private Markets Access ELTIF is designed as an evergreen vehicle and adopts a multi-manager, multi-asset approach, investing across buyout, growth equity, venture capital and infrastructure. The fund will be distributed through partners in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Nordic region, giving non-professional investors broader access to diversified private market investments.
Richard Hope, Head of EMEA and Global Co-Head of Investments at Hamilton Lane, said the revised ELTIF framework provides another avenue for expanding access to private markets while maintaining institutional investment standards. The firm said the vehicle builds on its established evergreen platform, which manages more than $9 billion globally.
The launch comes as ELTIF 2.0 continues to reshape Europe’s private markets landscape. Reforms that came into force in 2024 removed several barriers for retail investors, including minimum investment thresholds, while widening the range of eligible assets and introducing greater flexibility for fund managers. Industry participants believe the changes could significantly accelerate the adoption of semi-liquid private market products among wealth investors.
According to Scope Ratings, the ELTIF market expanded rapidly during 2025, with assets under management rising by 55% to €34 billion, highlighting increasing demand for regulated private market investment vehicles.
